NEW JERSEY PCOS SYMPOSIUM

November 2, 2002

The symposium will provide a comprehensive and in-depth review of the current issues surrounding the PCOS patient. This program includes such topics as PCOS overview, Cardiovascular overview, diet, nutrition and stress management, as well as a variety of other issues. An outstanding group of professionals has been assembled for this program, so reserve your seat while there is still a chance!!

The symposium will be a half day event from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees, NJ The day will include a continental breakfast and lunch with roundtable discussions.

PCOS is a complex reproductive hormone disorder that currently affects 5 to 7 million women and teenagers in the United States. Symptoms of PCOS may include:

- Chronically irregular menstrual cycles - Excessive hair growth, particularly on the face, chest or abdomen - Unexplained weight gain or tendency to be overweight - Infertility or difficulty conceiving - Adult acne - Male-pattern hair loss

This syndrome has been identified in women of all ethnic backgrounds and affects women of all ages, from adolescence to menopause. The keys to a healthier you is effective, lifelong management of modifiable risk factors. This one-day conference is designed to help attendees discover ways to live a healthy life and reduce potential later life complications of PCOS.

The morning sessions are designed to provide an update on diagnosis, treatment and lifestyle interventions for this common disorder. The afternoon sessions are divided into 2 tracks (A and B) to address specific interests of attendees. At the LifeKeys Fair, attendees will have an opportunity to have a blood pressure measurement and heart disease risk assessment and to interact one-on-one with healthcare and industry representatives that can help YOU manage your symptoms.

Keynote Speakers

David S. Guzick, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Dean, School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Rochester. Dr. Guzick practiced in Pittsburgh in the 1980s and is an expert in infertility and ovulation induction among women with PCOS He will address state-of-the-art treatment and management of PCOS and future directions in research.

Robert A. Wild, M.D., M.P.H, Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Oklahoma Medical Center. Dr. Wild is an expert in the area of lipids and hirsutism among women with PCOS. He will discuss the emergence of PCOS as a recognized disorder from a 20-year perspective (1980- 2000+).
