Hi, 15yrs ago I stopped having my periods, put 60lbs on in 2 months and its been a battle ever since. At first I was tested for thyroid and pituatary problems. My dr then put me on provera to bring on the period, in return I got pregnant. It didn't stop there. I was finally diagnosed 5 yrs after that by an endrincologist with PCOS and he said that the provera had helped me get pregnant but as time went by it would be harder and harder for me to get pregnant. He never offered me any medicine to help, just provera to take every few months since I could not take bc pills. He also said if I did get pregnant again I might put a stop to the PCOS. Time went by and 10yrs after first child I got pregnant again while on Provera (at this time in my life I wasnt ready for a child). Now it's been a total of 15yrs, I've had symptom after symptom and weight gain and anxiety problems, high cholestoral, now bad liver functions. I'm falling apart basically. My doctor I have now finally said that I have PCOS when 6yrs ago he didnt know what I was talking about, he also finally said that metaformin might be right for me, when several years ago he didn't understand what I meant when I asked for it. I need to know, if this medication has had any side effects with woman that have PCOS but not blood sugar problems and if it helps with weight loss? I can't do the progesterone anymore since it has affected my gastro-intestinal too much and I'm at a big loss right now as to what to do. Low carb diets started to work but then my anxiety levels went up with them, was told it was temporary hypoglycemia. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
