Re: MetforminFrom: Diane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Sep 2002 04:50:05 -0500 (CDT)
I believe I have PCOS and in retrospect probably have had it for atleast a decade but only unearthed it when my menstruation completely stopped in the last year. I went to my GP who thought it was very likely to be PCOS. I discussed metformin with her but she was not receptive at all and has never heard of it being used for PCOS treatment but she said she would refer me to a gynaecologist. Can a gynaecologist prescibe metformin or would I have to go to an endocrinologist/diabetologist? Maybe rather than debating the point with my GP I'm better to wait for the gynaecologist and then discuss it with them? Any Advice is appreciated,
-- Diane
