Hi Melissa, my daughter is now 19 and doing very well with PCOS. She is on a birth control pill, metformin, and aldactone. It took a while to get everything under control but she is doing very well now. Please feel free to email me privately at mollys@cox.net. Good luck!

I took my daughter back to the family dr yesterday and she put her on glucophageXR 500mg once a day..finialy we are getting some where she did say all her test came back on the high end but not enough to diagnose her but she is now going to treat her for pcos because she really thinks she has it..she also said she will hold off diagnosing her officially because of her age for insurance purposes that way it will not be a preexcisting condition.. she changed when she takes her 20 mg of sarafem to in the morning and told her to wait two days before she starts the glucophage just so her system is not overloaded with changes so she will start it Saturday night. cross your fingers this will help we go back in 6 weeks but i can call her before if we need to. My 16 year old daughter has been diagnoised with pco.  she has been on
bcp for the past year and the very first set of bcp worked great she had
energy and was losing weight and breezed through her periods well dr decided
they were to strong for her and changed them. so for the last 6 months it
has been heck.she is over weight but does not eat much (i finially made the
dr
understand that. this is when she said OH my gosh i know what she has)
they did the blood test today so we are waiting for the results of those.
my mother, both of my inlaws and her dad are diabetics. I had t have hyst at
27
due to sever cramps and cyst on overies.
I need to know how to help my daughter and what she needs to know in dealing
with this.Thanks to anyone who can help us.
