I was also diagnosed with PCOS 6 years ago, then with hypothroidism 4 years ago, 10 months ago I was also diagnosed with anemia. The doctor prescribed Ferrous Gluconate 35mg tablets twice aday. These worked well, I got my energy back, but constipation was a big problem. I since have stopped taking the iron pills and have tried to include more iron enriched foods in my diet, and so far feel ok. Since the iron pills worked my doctor never investigated why my iron was low. Most cases are due to heavy periods, but because of my PCOS i do not have many periods. After reading your message it makes me wonder! I have not been treated for PCOS except for taking medaprogesterone to enduce a period every 3 months. I am wondering about taking meds. such as Spironoliactone to help with unwanted hair growth and acne. I know that birth control would also help but I don't want to eleminated any chance that I may conceive, even though hubby and I don't want children just yet. Are you taking any meds for treatment of PCOS? Please e-mail back and share your story!
