Re: Trouble low carbing while on Glucophage?

Hi,

I actually also feed good eating carbs so long as they are high fibre and not refined. I do get cravings (or rather once I start eating I can't stop, but only when I eat refined carbs - particulalry white bread, rice, cake.....) I certainly don't pig out on whole-grain, high fibre bread, but can easily eat a loaf of fresh white if I start. Other apparently sweet things like ice-cream are fine - I can stop with just one scoop - perhaps becuase of the fat in it as well.

Time of day has an effect as well. I can handle carbs first thing in the morning much better than I can for the rest of the day and so I eat whole grain toast, or high fibre low fat, no sugar cereal for breakfast. After that my carbs are generally coming from veges.

I recommend experimenting with what does and doesn't work for you. Not all carbs are bad, and not all carbs will be triggers...

Hope this helps.

Sally

To avoid these trigger carbs, I don't keep them in my house at all. As long as I don't start I am fine. Perhpas you need to experiment with which carbs are ok.
