Hi Susan,
I am so glad you are finally getting some answers. Your doctor sounds
up to date, and it is possible to have PCOS even if the blood tests are
within the normal range.
I don't know what your doctor's approach is regarding glucophage. My
glucose tolerance test came out normal and many of my blood tests were
within normal range (though the ratios between various results were
out), but my doctor still prescribed metformin. She beleives that
insulin resistance is possible, even if it not detectable by common
testing methods. And I certainly had all the symptoms.
I am not sure about the UTI, but there have been some previous links on
this site. You could do a search. Recently there are been some posts
regarding their prevention..... first and foremost is to drink plenty
of water (day and night) - my kidney doctor (I have kidney stones)
recommends that everyone should drink at least 3 litres a day (spread
out between day and night - one does get used to waking up to go to the
loo during the night). Someone recommended washing instead of wiping
after going to the loo. Cranberry juice?
