Re: glucophage in pregnancyFrom: chelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 4 Sep 2002 13:31:23 -0500 (CDT)
Hi I have just started my search for people who have concieved and are or did decide to continue with metformin. I am 17 weeks pregnant and concieved on met. My OB/Gyn is convinced that I should stay on 1000 mg. daily to prevent gestational diabetes (I have a family history of diabetes). I would like to get off it asap, but with the nausea I haven't been able to eat right or exersize the way I used to to control anything. I have never had a miscarriage but I was on metformin for about a year before I got pregnant. The baby is as healthy as can be as far as we can tell. So far I have had no side effects of taking met. during pregnancy, but the baby isn't born yet. I would recomend continuation of the met. and possible lower the dose depending on your particular weight situation. Hope this helps, Michelle
