What are the "positive effects" you are referring to. If it is weight loss,
it's not the reason for taking metformin. It's actually a side-effect for
some people. The other effects you may see are regulation of your periods,
perhaps some hormonal balancing, and improvements in blood test lab values.
To improve the effect, you may need to increase the dose (I recently went from
500 2x/day to 850 2x/day with huge improvements in symptoms), and try low/reduced-carbing.
