If you aren't satisfied, go for a second opinion. Diabetes often does result in eye problems, and blindness. I don't know much about your diagnosis, so I can't explain it more. But, you were probably diabetic for some time before you got your diagnosis, and were beginning to develop complications without your knowing it. I doubt the problem is from the glucophage, but is instead from the diabetes itself.
