I am a nursing student and i graduate in may. since dxed with pcos, i have researched meds which may help my symptoms. spiro seemed like the best choice for me because my main issue is acne. therefore i researched its physiological action, side effects, etc. in EVERY SINGLE nursing drug book i own (mosby's nursing drug reference 2002, etc.), carcinoma of the breast is listed as a potential side effect. i also read a study from 2002 physicians desk reference(pdr)-when rats were given very high doses of spiro they developed cancer...not only of mammary glands but other places as well. also the pdr cautions NOT to use spiro long term unless directly indicated. that is why i am uneasy about taking this med-i have breast CA in my family. so THIS is what i am talking about and if you seek out these sources i am sure you will be able to imagine how this is possible. thank you.

>>>What are you talking about and where did you get your information? Spiro
has long been used as an anti-hypertensive drug (lowers BP, reduces
fluid) for those who have high BP, and has relatively weak
anti-androgenic compounds as well.  There is a large risk for birth
defects in male embryos if taken during gestation, but NEVER have I
heard of a cancer risk and can't imagine how that would be possible.
Please elaborate and cite your sources!!
