Moodiness, no libido and Breakthrough Bleeding on BC Pills: Is there one out there for me?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Jul 2002 13:36:04 -0500 (CDT)
I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 1 year and I experienced depression as well as a decreased libido. My doctor switched me to Loestrin Fe 1/20 and I was on that for 4 months and experienced less depression, but became more irritable and moody for the three weeks before my period. I also had breakthrough bleeding and again, no libido. My doctor has just switched me to Loestrin 1.5/30 and wanted to put me on anti-depressants to help with the PMS symptoms. I decided to try the higher dose pill she suggested and opted not to take, I think it was "Seraphim" or something like that for the PMS. I don't have a history of depression or PMS and I have been in a committed, loving relationship. My problems began with the BC pills. My question is, am I someone who just shouldn't take BCP's or is there a pill that has the right combination of hormones to balance me out. I am 22 and I don't plan on having kids for at least 3 years, so if I can find the right pill--that is the most convenient way I would like to go!
