Congratulations on your pregnancy !!
I agree here. But do some investigating yourself, like drug side
effects. The problem is, there has not been enough research to
guarantee no problems with the baby. But, logic would tell me that
haveing your blood sugars stable before and during pregnancy is a very
high priority, and thus, I agree with your OB.
You might also check with some of the centers that do research, such as:
http://www.joslin.harvard.edu/index.shtml and see if they have any
recommendations. Or, consult with a local diabetes center, and see what
they are recommending.
This article is very helpful for current recommendations for GDM. Assume
you have GDM, as you are IR and T2Diabetic.
