I don't know if you're under the care of a RE, but you really should be. There is quite a bit of research out there about remaining on your insulin sensitizer during pgy--it cuts the rate of m/c considerably. I've never taken Avandia, but I took Actos (similar type of drug) all through my pgy, and many on this board have remained on metformin all through their pgys. Please look in to this--if I hear of one woman avoiding a m/c, then I'm happy. I had 4 and don't wish the pain and sadness of them on anyone. Please do some research and make sure that YOU'RE comfortable with your instructions about medication and pgy. If your OB (or whoever you're working with) isn't up to date on stuff, see if you can find another dr who is more current and willing to treat you the way you want to be taken care of.

Incidentally, Zyrtec is a histamine blocker--that's why it dries up excess mucous. If you have excessive mucous from allergies (a histamine reaction), then it will take care of that, but it doesn't do anything to regular mucous that's supposed to be there and isn't a reaction to histamine. Zyrtec is an anti-histamine drug--many anti-histamine meds are used during pgy, Benadryl being one of them. They are not dangerous, and like I said before, even the most conservative OBs prescribe them for women who need them during pgy.
