Hi Teresa,

It is very common, but this is only the outer shell of the pill, which is constructed so, that the active ingredient (metformin) slowly dissolves. Neither metformin nor the other insulin sensitizers are "safe" during pgy, but there is enough experience with metformin to suggest taking it (because the risk of miscariage and gestational diabetes are grater than the risk of harming the embryo). You need only 0,8 mg folic acid. For your info
