Hello, Jessica. I apologize for the belated reply, but it doesn't look like you've got one yet. I don't think it's a good idea to a "high carb meal" when you have PCOS irrespective of issues with medication. It's important to balance protein and carbs in every meal, including as snacks. The carbs you do eat should be complex carbs like broccoli, not simple carbs like chocolate.

Some people have found that consuming a lot of carbs, I think particularly simple carbs, with metformin exacerbated side effects. I think some women have NOT found that relationship. It's probably that side effects occur differently in different women.

Some people have said during is best; others have said it doesn't affect them.

My girlfriend has seen a great reduction in the occurence of acne. She doesn't feel that metformin has helped much with hair growth. Your experience might be different.
