Re: Dr. Sam? A question for you.From: Pat (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Jun 2002 11:44:18 -0500 (CDT)
I am not Dr. Sam, but I have used Progesterone Cream quite successfully as a substitute for Provera. As a Woman's Health Care provider, I work with women to find combinations that work best for them. Micronized progesterone in tablet form, and prescription progesterone cream have been more researched and more consistent in amount. The progesteone cream you can buy over the counter is less reliable, and the % of progesterone will vary. The problem is these are 'natural' products, have probably been less well researched, and there isn't the same money to be made with natural progesterone, as there is to be made with synthetics. Sorry to be so tough on the pharmaceutical companies, but I belive this to be so. For many years we were limited to synthetic progestin with no natural products available. It has only been through consumer demand that we now have a wide variety of products, and finally in many instances, natural progesterone is being used more and more
