Re: ClomidFrom: Dona (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 22 Jun 2002 00:25:13 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Christa, Most RE's have a proceedure they follow... they will usually start you off at the lowest dose of clomid to see if you respond to that first... starting dose is usually 50mg... given on days 5-9... although I have seen some woman post that they take it starting day 3... I guess it just depends on your doc. Usually they will do an ultrasound on day 13 or so to see if you have any follicles maturing... if they see at least one 18-22mm follicle they will keep you on 50mg the next cycle and possibly give you an HCG injection to trigger ovulation. If they see no responce at 50mg then they will up the dosage to 100mg... then 150... and so on untill you respond to it..if you never respond then they might start you on injectables. Hope this helps..I am just saying what I have gone through the past few months. And yes it does seem like trial and error but I am happy to say that I had a 22mm follicle on 50mg of clomid this month...and I had an LH surge! I skipped the HCG this month because it is expensive....The only side affect I have had was hot flashes the first month..but I dont notice that anymore. I also had 5 follicles last cycle and they were concerned about hyperstimulation with the HCG injection and multiples...so we had to cancell the cycle. so wish me luck! and good luck to you!
