This is basic brain chemistry I'm talking. Estrogen and progesterone antagonize each other, balance each other. Progestins, the synthetics, are not the same molecular structure as real progesterone and are not necessarily recognized or used by the body in the same ways. You also have to take into account the various breakdown products of these pseudo-hormones and how the body reacts to them. Estrogen increases brain electrical activity, progesterone decreases it. Dr. John Lee's books get further into the chemistry than I have room for here and the information is available from other sources as well. Does that answer your question? BJ
