YES!!!! She can have it, and could benefit from therapy. If she is an active child and is still suffering from IR, she might be a candidate for glucophage therapy. Especially with a family history of diabetes, heart disease or obesity. My 8 year old takes glucophage because she is also showing signs of PCOS, and has IR. She has improved tremendously since starting the medication. She is very active, plays soccer and dance, and had terrible problems with afternoon tiredness and headaches. She is feeling so much better now. I took her to a pediatric endocrinologist who prescribed the met. I am hoping that by treating her now, she might avoid the problems I have.

Hope this helps,

luck, SusieQ
