Glucophage is safe, Ive taken to see if it would help me loose weight and it didnt have any long term side effects, besides i dont even have PCOS. Anyway glucophage XR is an extended release for of glucophage, which means that it is chemically desigend to release small amounts of the drug into your system throughout the day. I found that glucophage 500mg the non XR kind works best taken 30 minutes before meals 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, not at snacks. I dont think that the XR is that special because you have less control, its always in your body, but who knows. its hard to remember to take your pill 30 min before each meal because not every meal is planned out, so its easier to take one pill a day. if it works for you then do it, but if not then try the old glucophage and also there is something that will help you emensly if you eat it at dinner or lunch every day more than glucophage ever will.... WHEAT BERRIES!! go to your helath food store and buy them, cook and eat, add them to soups and salads, they are a whole grain that basically does the same thing as G-phage but without the crappy sideeffects. also go to DRMIRKIN.COM for more information on polycystic ovary snydrome and nutrition, he is my doctor and he knows a lot about it, hes amazing! go there!!!!
