Hi there! I was diagnosed w/ PCOS when I was 19- put on the pill by my gynocologist, but then eventually stopped that and saw a specialist who confirmed the diagnosis, tested me for insulin resistance, and put me on Glucophage. It ended up not helping any of my symptoms (no period, excessive body/facial hair). Also, I had lost a lot of my hair (on my head) and stopped losing it, but haven't gotten any of it back =(. So I just started Actos to see if it will help me grow back some of my hair, get my period, and lose some of the body/facial hair. I'm about 10 pounds overweight, but was able to drop that from about 25 pounds overweight through reducing my carbs and maintaining my excersize routine. I maintained my weight while on Glucophage and am not sure what will happen with Actos, but I'll let you know how it goes- and anyone who wants, feel free to email me (donny5@aol.com) w/ advice/questions/especially about things to help grow back hair and diet tips for insulin resistant PCOS girls. Also, any fellow college students who are interested in talking to me about PCOS I would love to hear from you. Thanks!
