Hi Huma,

unfortunately one can't eliminate PCOS. However, it can be treated.

Your doctor probably prescribed diane-35 to regulate your periods and suppress excess androgens (common with pcos) for some months, after which you should try to get pregnant immediately (there is no need to wait - you can possibly (if you ovulate) get pregnant your first cycle after stopping). Apparently for women with PCOS BCP can be helpful just prior to trying to conceive and women are actually more likely to concieve just after going off.

However, you are taking metformin and this is the most important part of your treatment and probably you will be taking this long term (even after you concieve).

Have you discuss the pain with your dr. Two options: 1 is to grin and bear it for one more month. The second is to stop the BCP and see how you go just with the metformin.

In any case, sounds like your doctor is familiar with PCOS. Best wishes.
