About to start metformin

Hi all,

I have had pcos probably since I was a teenager but was not diagnosed until I was 26. I had ovarian drilling at 27 at which point my symptoms subsided for a couple of months and then came back with a vengance. Three RE's later I have finally found a half-way decent dr. who isn't pushing the Pill on me (I have had many problems in the past with it) to deal with my symptoms (hair, cysts, acne, etc). I am getting ready to start metformin and was hoping those who are on it would share some info.

1. I thought I read somewhere that you should not take metformin with a high carb meal; that it would exacerbate gastro symptoms. Is this true or has anyone experienced this?

2. Do you find it better to take metformin before, during or after a meal?

3. I have a big problem with excess hair and acne. Has anyone noticed a lessening of these symptoms after being on the metformin for a while?
