Hi Tracey and Grace,

I have to contradict to the "info" provided by Grace. I don't know about zink, but metformin is proven to block the absorption of folic acid, therefore it is advisable to TAKE folic acid (800 mcg/day) for those who are TTC. It is not harmful for those either who are not TTC, but want to have a healthy level of folic acid. You can't achieve toxic levels of folic acid, by taking some supplements, as it is water soluble and you simply piss out the extra amount of it. I don't know either what has menstruation to do with folic acid. For your informed choice
