I suppose that it depends on how you define success. Yes, some people have seen a greater regularity in the periods, had periods when they previously had them rarely or not at all, and even conceived while taking only metformin. For my girlfriend, it has improved the occurrence and level of her menstruation. She also used to feel sick much of the time before starting metformin, but that's been greatly reduced since she started metformin and got passed the adjustment phase. She has also lost body fat.

Like any drug, it doesn't necessarily make everything all better, but it can be a great factor in improving the lives of PCOS sufferers.
