Hi Maria,

A couple of comments.

Firstly, it can be very hard for women with PCOS to lose weight regardless of medication or diet, so you may have to reconcile yourself that weight loss can be a long and slow process.

If you are exercising a lot, you could have gained muscle mass, and lost fat - so you really have made progress, just you are n ot seeing it on the scale. And muscle weighs more than fat. Have your measurments changed? It may be that you will see some weight loss later when you muscle gain has slowed down and your fat loss continues.....

Weight training should be helpful in addition to aerobic work becuase it will increase your muscle mass which will increase your metabolic rate.

Have you been tested for thyroid. This is another possible reason for difficulty losing weight. I could NOT lose weight, even when practically starving, until my hypothyroid was diagnosed and treated.

Finally, try counting calories strictly (even to the extent of weighing food) for a week or so to see how much you are really eating. Keep a food diary and be very honest in it. Perhaps there are hiddencalories somewhere. Perhaps your portion sizes are too big (that can be an issue for me). Don't know? Anyway, I don't recommend counting calories, long term, but it could useful as a short term measure to see what you are actually doing and eating and to re-educate yourself on portion sizes, if necessary. If you are exercising a lot, I would think you should be eating at least 1800 - 2000 calories a day. Minimum calories should be 1200 - 1500, but don't go too low or you will slow down your metabolic rate - last thing you want to do. Also remember that low carb does not mean high fat, if you are eating fatty / high oil foods, it can be terribly easy to get a large amount of calories, without realising.

Hope this helps
