You can use either Metformin or BCP or both. No rule you have to use both together.

There are people on some of the discussions who are very anti-pill, so look at research, options, etc. (it got so bad on one list I've had people complain to me privately about why they get denigrated for their choice). I keep a list of references from one of the doctors who wrote a textbook used in some medical schools. You might want to look at that. I have a BCP page also goes over BCP.

The AIA, http://www.americaninfertility.org group, has good information on their website. Your national organization does also. I recently made a post in regards to BCP, which included a note from the head of PCOSA on it on the pcos email list here.
