Re: metformin & birth control pillsFrom: Teresa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 12 May 2002 22:56:50 -0500 (CDT)
I strongly disagree that you must be on the Pill and Metformin. I was on the Pill for birth control and I also take Glucophage. Since going off the Pill two months ago, I have had two normal cycles for the first time in my life. I do not need the Pill to be regular and in fact this may be a sign I am actually ovulating. One of the reasons I went off the Pill was the fact I couldn't tell if my medication was doing me any good because my symptoms were being masked. I am relieved to know, now that I am off the Pill, my meds are working. Had I stayed on the Pill I would have never known. I think you will find most others on this chat group do not recommend the Pill for PCOS.
