Hi Fergus,

You have to be careful of taking statements on face value. Most people (and even their doctors) seem to think that a simple glucose tolerance or even a more complicated glucose/insulin test can testify for insulin resistance. This is not the case. To test for IR a very complicated test and instrumantation is needed, which is available in very few laboratories. It involves the continuous infusion of certains amounts of glucose and frequent measuring of glucose/insulin in your blood. I doubt if such a test was performed in any of the cases who claim to have tested for insulin resistance. Alt the other tests only give a certrain insight into the glucose/insulin balance.
