Re: Clomid, pregnancy, and confused by dr.s! HelpFrom: Sue (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 11 May 2002 11:10:55 -0500 (CDT)
Wow! That's confusing, esp. if you're in the middle of it. The safest thing to do would be to have the HSG (dye in the tubes test) to make sure there's no blockage first. If you end up ovulating on Clomid and there's a blockage, then you've shot yourself in the foot, so to speak--the egg you produce wouldn't get fertilized anyhow. So make sure there's no blockage first. Then choose a doctor who will monitor your progress on Clomid. What dose are you on? I went on 100 mg and got pg the first month, so it does happen! We didn't expect it to happen until the 5-6th cycles, so we were shocked and surprised to find me pg the first go-round. DO have the bloodtest on the 21st of each cycle--it measures the progesterone in your system and can be a reasonable indicator if you've ovulated or not (the progesterone levels, that is). And more than anything, if you're PCOS, then find a RE who will prescribe an insulin sensitizer AND work with you on getting pg. It won't do you any good if you're not healthy, b/c women with PCOS have a much higher rate of miscarriage than those who don't. HTH
