bad Dr?From: erin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 9 May 2002 19:27:22 -0500 (CDT)
My doctor has just recently started me on Metformin. I am only taking 500mg a day. After reading on almost every website that I've visited that the normal dose is at least 1500mg a day, I went to her and asked her why I was on so little a dose and if she planned to increase it in the future. She told me she'd never heard of anyone using 1500mg, not even diabetics, and that she didn't reccomend me using any more than I am using now. But my friend works for a reproductive endocrinologist, and she said that all of his patients use met for PCOS, and that they use at least 1500, if not more. Should I change doctors? I don't want to be taking pills if they're not going to do me any good. There are only three RE's in my city and there is a 6 month wait to see them. As it is, I have to wait a month to see my obgyn. That's why I go to my family doctor. But I don't really think she knows to much about PCOS. I don't know what to do.....
