Prometrium, what are the chances of it actually helping to induce an ovulationFrom: linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 9 May 2002 16:16:05 -0500 (CDT)
Hi all. I am 33 years old and have been diagnosed with PCOS for 15 years. I have lived with the symptoms for over 20 years. PCOS has never been a big big concern for me until recently when I got married and started having a desire to start a family. I am under the care of a wonderful endocrinologist and GP. I have type II diabetes, which is under control. I have had highly irregular menstruation in all of those 20 years. Sometimes going up to 2 years without anything, but since I have controlled my blood sugar, lost weight and been taking Avandia for 6 months I have had quite a few periods. During some of them I am quite certain that there was ovulation. I have recently started using prometrium on a 14 day schedule every cyle, 300 mg per day and the plan is to continue with this treatment for the next 12 months. I know that Prometrium doesn't induce ovulation, but it can help implantation of fertilised eggs if ovulation is occurring. Has anyone on here gotten pregnant as a result of taking the prometrium? Any insights will be most appreciated. Thank you. Linda
