Yasmin and SpironolactoneFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Apr 2002 00:53:50 -0500 (CDT)
I was on a very low dosage of spironolactone (25mg 2 times daily) for a couple of years and voluntarily quit usage. Chin hairs have been growing back much faster now and I asked my endo to reintroduce the spiro. She suggested switching me from the Ortho Tri Cyclean BCs I am currently taking to Yasmin. How effective is the antiandrogen in Yasmin (drospirenone) versus the spironolactone? What about the fact that spironolactone is taken on a daily basis, and the Yasmin does not include any drospirenone in the 7 "reminder" pills unlike the 21 "active" pills? To my understanding that would be the equivalent of missing 7 days of a spironolactone prescription which would definitely affect results. Thank you for any information about this.
