Re: PCOS and Metformin Side EffectsFrom: Sue (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Apr 2002 13:25:30 -0500 (CDT)
If you have any concerns whatsoever, then you need to talk to your RE. But from what you described, you just had a reaction to alcohol and the met. There should be labels on your Rx from the pharmacy indicating that you shouldn't drink and take met. You did not have any sort of LA--if you did, you'd still have it, likely be in the hospital, and possibly not surviving. LA is fatal 50% of the time. There are some really good descriptions of LA in a thread about a year back on this board--go back and do an archive search, and that will give you more information. In short, though, LA is VERY VERY RARE and occurs in about 1 in 33,000 people taking metformin. HTH
