Hello! I am in the same boat. I am almost 9 weeks pregnant and have remained on Metformin (2000mg). My doctors and I have been discussing whether or not to take me off of it at the end of this first trimester. According to Dr. Charles Glueck who has done much of the research on continuing Metformin during pregnancy you should continue. He states that it will not cause harm to the baby and may help to ward off some of the complications which can occur later in pregnancy. You can read the abstracts from his rescarch by doing a search for Metformin and Pregnancy. He works in Cincinnati. I don't know if this is any help. I know it is a difficult decision...I am very nervous about it myself. I personally know of 1 woman who remained on the Metformin throughout her entire pregnancy and has a beautiful, healthy little boy. She had no complications at all in her pregnancy. Good luck to you! Haley
