PCOS and BCPFrom: Carolyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Apr 2002 17:12:57 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, I was (finally) diagnosed (at age 35) with PCOS about a year ago, after many visits to various physicians. I was able to get a wonderful GYN that has taken the time to perform blood tests, endometrial biopsies, medications (BCP and spironolactone) and an overall positive attitude. I had the classic symptoms (hair growth, overweight, no periods at all, elevated sugar levels) and I'm finally starting to read more about this condition and its effect on my life thus far. I'm wondering if any other women out there experience no periods while on the BCP's. I was doing well, but then started to see a decrease in the days of my period. I contacted my gyn and she said that this will happen and that the pills were working (as I had been diagnosed with simple hyperplasia (from the endometrial biopsy) and it meant that the abnormal cells were going away). Well, now last month, my period completely disappeared. I'm waiting to see what happens this month, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I appreciate any insight!! -Carolyn
