help!From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 16 Apr 2002 13:16:00 -0500 (CDT)
i've known i have pcos since i was 16 & i'm now 25. i was treated with various different birth control pills as well as spironolactone & aldactone. so far the only thing that mildly worked was the contraceptive pill diane 35 which i am lucky enough 2 get outside the U.S. in recent months i have done nothing. 2day the doctor prescribed yasmin. yasmin has the anti-androgen drospirenone diane 35 has the anti-androgen cyproterone acetate i'm wondering which one 2 take in addition, i am overweight, not obese, but cannot get my weight down the hair growth on my face, chest, lower abdomen & lower back is getting worse & worse i have ridiculous acne on my face, chest, upper back, lower abdomen and i have folliculitis or something in my bikini area, inner thighs, & lower abdomen. i do not have any insulin level abnormalities, but i heard that metformim & the newer one called tryzer someting (i 4got the name) works anyway. is this true? and is glucophage something i should look into? how do i know which treatment 2 use? also, i want 2 begin taking vitamin b6, vitamin a, saw palmetto, zinc, etc... as i've read it helps but don't know how much 2 take, what dosage. every doctor i go 2 is reluctant 2 help me. i'm in new york. thanks.
