Re: Glucophage XR dose?From: Bronwyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 16 Apr 2002 12:23:49 -0400
I've tried to take the XR time and again. The side effects that keep me chained to the bathroom always win the battle and I give up for a while in frustration.....because of the cramping and embarrassment. I really feel for the younger gals going thru this and trying to date. I"m 41 and in the dating scene too, and I've had a few guys that I'd rather DIE than tell them why I need to keep finding a bathroom while we're on a date. The wonderful man I've been seeing the past couple months is very understanding though, and that helps a lot. I had lost nearly 50 pounds, without effort and without really changing my eating and excersize levels, about 6 years ago on the regular Glucophage. Like you, I didn't seem to have that many problems the first year or two while I was on it....but once I reached this "magic" number, it seems the weight loss tapered off and then the side effects became more noticable. Now, part of this could have been because of my life being turned upside down as I found myself going thru a divorce and finding myself forgetting to take my meds at regular intervals, but it eventually got bad enough I told the doctor I refused to keep taking it. I'm glad to know someone has lost weight on the XR. I wasn't sure if people found it to be helpful in that regard like the "regular" Glucophage or not. I think I'll have to set my mind to it to really give it another try. Wish me luck! Hugs,
Shelley
