I have been on glucophage XR for a year and a half. I took generic glucophage for about four months and felt somewhat miserable the whole time, especially when I was careless about my schedual for taking it and not taking it with food. They really mean you need to take it with food! YOu might want to look into taking brand name glucophage XR- it is time release, you only take it once a day, and in my expirience it was much less bothersome than generic glucophage. I would give what you're on now a fair two week trial, and if it hasnt improved at all, talk to your dr about trying the XR. If it improves a little but not as much as you'd like, stick with it for a month or two.
