Glucophage Side Effects taking tollFrom: CN (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 6 Apr 2002 01:30:20 -0600 (CST)
Hello to everyone here, First of all, I think this is a wonderful site. I am thrilled to have found it. My Doctor's Assistant had misinformed me of some things having to do with the disease. I was able to clear much of it up by visiting the PCOS site. I have been diagnosed with this for four months now. My doctor has put me on the glucophage at a dose of 1500 mg per day. It helped within the first month to regulate my cycles, and I began to lose a little weight. However, the GI upset has increasingly gotten worse instead of better. I feel absolutely miserable most of the time I take it. I have so much trouble with it that I have a difficult time even going out of the house. I stopped for about two weeks by accident( simply forgot. I felt so much better. Then I remembered and took two doses. My stomach got so upset while out shopping that I have stopped taking it altogether. It has been about three weeks and I have felt about a hundred times better. My problem is that after stopping, all the good things the glucophage has done have also stopped. Since I want to have children very soon, I must become regulated and lose some weight for health reasons. I want to find some way to take this medication without all the discomfort. I cannot stay at home all the time just so that I don't worry about getting sick in public. That wouldn't be a very fulfilling life. I would truly appreciate any help that anyone can give on how to take care of these problems and still take this very helpful medications. Thank you to everyone
