Re: Pregnant and taking GlucophageFrom: Victoria (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 4 Apr 2002 8:14:24 -0500
Hi, Congratulations!!! Depends on the doctor. Metformin in the first three months with the few studies we have, appears to not have a problem. There were a few studies that have shown a problem. I have a list of the studies on http://nicho_v.tripod.com/metpreg.html. Everything is pretty much new, and it is up to the patient and doctor involved to make a decision based on what little is out there. Btw, progesterone supplements could also be something to check out. I will caution you that people will try to use your fear to push you into a decision. I've seen it before, and it will doubtless happen again. Talk with your doctor, get second opinions from the medical people on both sides of the coin, not just one, and make a decision based on what you can live with, not what anyone else does.
