Re: Birth control pillsFrom: Victoria (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 4 Apr 2002 8:09:46 -0500
If you talk to an ob/gyn or reproductive endocrinologist, Dr. Leon Speroff is someone they will follow and his textbook is being used as a reference. I can see that endocrinologists will use something different, as it is a different field of expertise than ob/gyn. Most cardiologists wouldn't use an ob/gyn book either. That said, please clarify with specifics what journals/books the endocrinologists are using to justify no use of BCP in diabetics. I haven't seen it on any websites. I'd also be willing to put this on the women's health forum here, as I'm sure it would have been something ob/gyn's and RE's would know, as they have diabetic patients. So would regular FP/NP/DO/Internists, because they all have diabetic patients. So what specific evidence has this been accepted on? Also, it has been proven that the lower dose pills don't have the effect the higher dose pills had on levels, and I've provided Dr. Speroff's evidence on that. Btw, my package insert on my desogen said nothing of what you said. Can you please point out where this is located. Like I said, I realize there are people on the net who are very anti pill.
