Re: Is low carb dieting/exersising enough?From: tera (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Mar 2002 21:45:03 -0600 (CST)
Hi! I have read that Met can be beneficial to women with PCOS who are not IR and who are borderline IR. I am one of those women. I am only borderline IR. Glucophage is helping me (regular periods, etc.)! I'm only taking 500 mg per day. With your history of diabetes, Glucophage can be a preventative measure (according to my doc). As for diet and exercise, you're doing the right thing by moving and by low carbing. Keep in mind that many women with PCOS are very metabolically resistant. How many carbs are you eating per day? Many women with PCOS have to drop quite low in order to lose. I have to eat as few as 20 per day in order to drop pounds. Everyone is different. You may have to experiment a little. God bless! Tera
