The whole idea of a PCOS or diabetic diet is to reduce that insulin response. Overproduction of insulin is the root of PCOS, and it's the reason that PCOS patients have a higher than normal risk of developing diabetes later. My girlfriend hasn't completely eliminated sweets, and I know it's hard for her. Nevertheless, she has greatly reduced them, and I do my best by reminding her to stay away from them and by staying away from them myself.
