New and questions about doctors and treatmentFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 23 Mar 2002 21:37:57 -0600 (CST)
Hi all, I'm 27 years old and the mother of two boys. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 22. Luckily I didn't have much trouble conceiving on Clomid and in fact became pregnant with my second on my own. Anyway, my weight has been stedily climbing since their births and I'm constantly tired all the time. At my last GYN appointment he told me I needed to lose weight. When I mentioned the PCOS he said, "Your PCO is a result of your weight, not the other way around." I felt awful and depressed and still don't believe that since I used to be a really good weight when I was a teen and then all of a sudden I started have irregular periods, weight gain, hair growth, and acne. My question is this, who is the best person to see to treat your PCO? Should I go to an endochronolgist or reproductive endo? What tests should I have done? What medicine should I be on? If I am on birth control pills should I still get glucophage and can I be on both? Thanks for your help and may God bless all of you out there trying to conceive. There is hope! Hugs, April
