Is GTT required for true accurate IR diagnosis?

Help, can someone explain this...the nurse said my 12 hr. fasting test was fine and normal, does this mean I'm not IR? Do I need to ask for an GTT? I hear there are different variations of theis test, which is best, 2 or 4 hr. ? I also hear that they can test insulin along with the GTTT? Is that the best?

Can someone help me understand what test(s) I need to be asking for?

Thanks
