A couple of things for you. One, for some reason, different labs have different normal ranges. Search the archives, as someone here has posted the range that the insulin is supposed to be in. I printed it out, but have it at work. Also I have seen the recommendation to make sure you do "carb loading" the day before. You still go in 12 hour fasting, but in the day before the test you need to make sure you get in 200 grams of carbs (easy couple of candy bars :-) and that way your release of insulin is stimulated and what is left circulating after 12 hours fasting should show if you are insulin resistant. I have a IGTT coming up and plan to do the loading myself.
