About Glucophage . . .

I have been taking the gluco for over a year now. Every 3 or 4 months I get blood taken for a basic metabolic panel on my kidneys. Apparently the gluco can affect kidney function and this needs to be monitored.

My question: Is there any other functions that can be adversely affected by taking the gluco for long periods of time?

Have any of you girls been taken off glucophage (metformin) due to adverse affects on kidney (or anything else)?

Thanks for the info
