I have been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid (100mg +)along with Chromium, Metformin and several other suppliments for over 3 years with no interaction problems. I started taking because of an article I read on prevention/minimization of diabetic neuropathy, and have since read more on its ability to lower blood sugars. I think if you are just starting it and are other meds capable of lowering your blood sugars (met, avandia etc), you should monitor bg to make sure you are not going too low, but that has never been a problem with me. One thing for me as a diabetic I have found it seems to be really good at helping to prevent the glycolization that is really the cause of many diabetic complications. At least that is my interpretation as to why my A1c levels are always near normal ( in the 7 range) even when I have had a lot of 200+ sugar readings. Cindi By the way the gelcaps of Alpha Lipoic from GNC seem to work better for me, though I do occasionally use less expensive brands as even with the 20% off, the GNC brand seems to be double what others on the market are.
